Leaf Activities

In the autumn time, the leaves are turning brown,

The wind is whistling through the trees.

So begins an original song about leaves twisting in the wind and floating to the ground.  Lesson activities include using leaves as rhythmic notation, using leaf shapes to create a positive and negative space “leaf pile” with body shapes, and some brief ideas about acting out a well-loved story, “The Surprise,” from Frog and Toad All Year.  Includes a 16 measure song and detailed lesson plans.  Recommended for grades K/1/2/3.
